I really enjoyed events like the Sports Day and Kotoba Day, as they allowed me to develop closer bonds with my classmates.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

I found all classes helpful, but especially enjoyed group activities as they allowed us to practice speaking Japanese while working together on tasks and developing friendships.

Any suggestions for improving class activities or materials?

I would’ve liked to see more group or pair activities in the higher levels, and more in depth explanation of grammar. I understand, however, that some of the grammar may have been explained in lower levels which I did not attend as I entered at Level 6.

Any comments or tips for prospective/new KCP students?

Take the initiative to make friends with people from different cultures, and you’ll be rewarded with valuable connections and experiences, as well as an opportunity to practice Japanese speaking outside of class.

Testimonials

KCP is a wonderful program for those looking to, 1) see their Japanese abilities exponentially grow, and 2) to experience the culture hands-on. It’s also a program for those who don’t simply seek to party either. The program’s rigorous and demands attention to your school work, health, and managing time in between. Basically, you live, eat, and breathe a Japanese lifestyle. It’s great.
