Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

I enjoyed the trip to Yamanashi. It's an area that I wouldn't have thought of to visit before and it was really nice to get out of Tokyo for the day.

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

I thought the two week group session was a great way to have an intense review before the main classes started. While I didn't enjoy the hours, I think having that much of concentrated Japanese studying really helped me improve. However I thought a lot of what was said in several orientations would have been better said in emails.

What activities or materials did you find most helpful (e.g., pair work, drill practice, tests, small group sessions, textbooks, games)?

I thought that pair work and having multiple times a day to practice grammar aloud was very helpful.

Were you pleased with the general living arrangements? Anything you especially liked? Any problems you experienced?

Tokugawa is a wonderful dorm. The dorm staff are very helpful. The rooms themselves have wonderful amenities and were a joy to stay in. I also loved the location. The only thing I disliked about Tokugawa was the strictly enforced curfew, however I realize that is more of a cultural norm and not a problem with the dorm itself.

Any further thoughts or tips for those considering the program or new KCP students?

I would say that any students considering the program should be willing to adapt and understand that the classes will be difficult. I've seen several people not be able to cope with the work load or teaching environment. Also purchasing a mobile wifi hotspot makes a lot of travel frustrations disappear.

I am very lucky to have found this program. It definitely did not disappoint, and I would without a doubt, recommend it to anyone who wants to further their skills in Japanese.
