My favorite part of the program was the classes themselves.

Which events or activities did you find the most satisfying and why?

My favorites were the at-school events that I attended. (calligraphy, traditional wrapping) The at-school events felt efficiently prepared, happening shortly after or before class and only lasting for an hour or two. In those couple hours they were usually very dense with interesting content while not going too long. And since they happened on a weekday at school, so it didn't really feel like a waste of time even if they weren't as engaging as I wanted them to be. I was going to be at school anyway even if I didn't go, so it was just a convenient time and place to enjoy something new.

What were the most productive and interesting aspects of the program for you? The least interesting and productive?

My favorite part of the program was the classes themselves. I thought the teachers were all very skilled and caring. The classwork pushed me to work hard while still being fairly hands-off. There were plenty of available resources for me when I needed help. And the classtime itself was surprisingly fun, with a fast-paced and energetic atmosphere. It felt like pretty much all of the students really wanted to be there and were invested in their own improvement. Same with the teachers. The additional culture classes were usually the least interesting parts. The lectures beforehand especially. They ranged from somewhat interesting to honestly quite boring and unprofessional.

Testimonials

KCP is a wonderful program for those looking to, 1) see their Japanese abilities exponentially grow, and 2) to experience the culture hands-on. It’s also a program for those who don’t simply seek to party either. The program’s rigorous and demands attention to your school work, health, and managing time in between. Basically, you live, eat, and breathe a Japanese lifestyle. It’s great.
